About the Artist

Sachin Vyam is a highly talented Gond artist hailing from the temple town of Amarkantak, India. His work is characterized by a unique blend of traditional and contemporary styles and is defined by intricate penwork and a stunning use of fine detail in combination with bold lines. This creates a striking and mesmerizing effect that draws the viewer into his surreal world and reflects his undying love for the art form, his passion for storytelling, and his deep respect for the Gond tribe's rich cultural heritage.

Sachin's interest in the arts began at a young age, and he remembers getting lost staring at the graphics of incense stick packaging and temple scriptures as a child. He started replicating these images on paper, but it wasn't until after his 12th grade in 2004 that he discovered Gond art. It was his aunt, a renowned Gond artist and Padma Shri awardee Durga Bai Vyam, who introduced him to the art form. She took him to a pop-up art exhibition in Delhi, where he witnessed a diverse range of Indian art styles, including Gond art. This experience was a turning point in his life, and he spent the next 8 years accompanying his aunt to art exhibitions and assisting other renowned artists in their craft. In 2013, he returned to Anuppur to continue working on his own art.
